I saw that you mentioned in Rwhgme's post about shocks that you've tried some Progressive shocks. I was wondering how much better they ride that the factory shocks? Did you do the installation yourself? Thanks for the info.

I have a set of Progressive 416's laying on my bench, were delivered late yesterday. I will be installing them myself, as well as new brake pads all the way around, and a fluid change.
My bike is not a TriGlide, but is actually the same, underneath, its a 2009 RoadGlide/Lehman. Will let you know what the shocks are like.

I haven't installed them yet. I see someone else has (read below). I will still let you know when I do and when I ride on them. Installation is easy because they send you directions. Remember to put the "sleeves" in right on the top and bottom of the shocks. You can use your old lines if they are good. just cut 1/8" off old line for better fit. It has been raining cats and dogs here in Mich. all week so My wanting to get the job done and ride has slowed for now. :Coffee:

I just installed the 416's, was simple, about hour and a half total. The hardest part was jacking it up, placing jack stands, pulling the wheels, and putting it back on the ground.
Make sure the sleeves are installed per directions, they are a very tight fit, needed WD40 and a rubber hammer to get them in, be sure the sleeve is on the inside on the top and the outside on the bottom of each shock. Cut a quarter inch off the stock lines and insert until it clicks, no air leaks at all, has held 50 pounds for 3 hours so far, also used spray bottle and soap, no leaks. The longer of the 2 shock bolts is the bottom bolt, by the way. Will ride it in the morning, and see how it rides and where I end up with the air pressure, by the way I run 20(2 up) to 22(2 up and packed for long trip) pounds of pressure in my rear tires, 40 in the front tire( but I run a rear bias tire backwards on the front).
I will report on the ride Friday evening.

Thanks guys, Progressive 416's sound like the hot tip then and glad to hear they're not too tough to install myself. Thanks for the additional tips too.

I usually got around 25,000 miles out of a set of brakes on our old Electra Glide riding mostly two up. With two rear wheels can I hope for that much on a Tglide even tho there's considerably more weight?

Do you use stock brake pads, or are there better ones out there?

thanks for the Heads up! you will be testing the shocks before me because of the weather where I am at. Good luck and will be waiting for the news back.ThumbUp

I run Lyndall Gold's on the front, My 2009 Lehman Renegade conversion came with Wilwood calipers, so run their pads on the rear.

EBC pads ON MY OTHER BIKES BEFORE. Had good luck with them. Will use them on my Trike. Was going to use the Lyndalls, but going to stay with the old reliables.

ok, as I promised, went out today to test ride on the Progressive 416"s!
started at the 50lbs per manual, now down to 20lbs, OMG!! Its a great ride, light years better than stock shocks! Only riding solo today, will see if some little lady will ride with me for 2 up testing. Then will load it down like a 4 week trip for 2 people.
I can honestly say, it is far better than I expected so far, never bottomed out on bad bump, smoother ride for sure.
No regrets so far, and less than 300 bucks on amazon, is a good deal.

1852cc,
thanks for the info. on your ride. Now, I am more anxious to get the work done and get on the road ! if only the weather here in Mich. would cooperate!
:gah:

I installed the 416 before leaving for sturgis last year along with the progressive front struts. Ride is a lot better softer in the rear with out bottoming out and no nose dive in the front. I would give them an A for ride and comfort.
